New HQ KERING
The intervention consists of redeveloping and recovering a 1970s building with 1 basement and 5 floors above ground that will house the new Kering headquarters in Tuscany.
The project entailed building a new entrance, demolishing and reconstructing the external lift shafts, installing new glass walls on facades, and completing interior finishes and systems.
The project designed by Barreca & Lavarra was developed according to cutting-edge construction and sustainability criteria aimed at obtaining the LEED Platinum Certification. Hence, they focus on reducing pollution, minimizing environmental impact, limiting water consumption, enhancing energy performance and using environmentally sustainable materials.
Given the complexity of the intervention, managing and complying with timelines and costs had surely been the greatest challenge we faced. The project imposed to strip out most of the existing building, with a great deal of undo and redo as well as structural consolidation of large portions of the construction.
In addition, we carried out a great number of regulatory compliance works, especially concerning fire safety, acoustics and waterproofing requirements.
