Garibaldi Building Complex
Erected by the State Railways between 1984 and 1994, the two Garibaldi Towers were the leading characters of a sophisticated redevelopment process signed by Progetto CMR.
The two buildings with 23 floors each have been transformed into the first Italian “green towers”, designed according to environmentally sustainable criteria. They officially launched the challenge among skyscrapers in the Isola and Varesine districts.
In our careful restyling of the existing buildings, we were able to build zero emission facilities equipped with solar and photovoltaic panels installed vertically right on the facade, natural ventilation, interactive facades and bioclimatic greenhouses on each floor.
Today, despite the area is densely populated by new skyscrapers, the Garibaldi towers can still boast a contemporary design.
The glass walls have tilted facets with four different angles, and they shine like diamonds in the sunlight. However, they are advanced technical mechanisms consisting of interactive ventilation cells for indoor air control.
This project has been among the first prestigious works we had the opportunity to contribute to and that literally redesign the skyline of Milan.
Our decade-long experience in construction processes and wide knowledge of materials and building elements enabled us to support the principal company by providing the necessary details and managing subcontractors, so to successfully complete the project and take pride in it.
